Most people know that being listed on Google’s first result page will bring them a lot of targeted visitors and that they will get a lot of sales through that listing.Unfortunately, some people don’t know how SEO (search engine optimization) works and what they can expect. Some webmasters still expect that their website will be listed on Google’s first result page after submitting the site to Google. That might have worked eight years ago but it does not work today.

1. SEO takes time

You cannot optimize your website today and expect results tomorrow or next week. Search engine optimization takes time. Search engines have to find your new optimized pages, they have to find the new links to your website, they have to update the index, etc.

2. You must change your web pages

If you want to get high rankings for certain keywords, then these keywords must appear on your web pages. It is possible to get high rankings for a keyword that is not listed on your website if lots of other websites link to your website with that keyword. That’s the exception, though.

In general, the keywords for which you want to be found must appear on your web pages and they must appear in the right elements on your web pages. For that reason, you have to change the HTML code of your web pages to make it as easy as possible for search engine spiders to parse your site.

3. You need links and you need the right links

Good backlinks are the key to high rankings on Google. Automatically created backlinks usually won’t help your rankings and they even might get you banned from Google’s index.

As a general rule, the easier it is to get a link, the less is its influence on the position of your website on Google. The links to your website should be from related websites and they should contain your keywords in the link text.

The more attractive your website is, the easier it will be to get good links. Your website should offer linkworthy content that other people can talk about.

4. It’s crucial to choose the right keywords

If you optimize the website of a rock band than you might think that it would be cool if their site was found for the keyword “mp3″. That might be cool but it does not make sense.

People searching for “mp3″ can be interested in anything: mp3 players, mp3 decoders, the latest Justin Bieber song, general information about the file format, etc. If these people come to your rock band website, they won’t find the information they are looking for.

Optimize your website for keywords that attract the right kind of people. For example “unsigned rock band” or “rock band london”.

5. You must be realistic

Getting on the first result page for a highly competitive keyword such as “mp3″ is possible but your competitors will be old and established websites with a lot of backlinks. It is very difficult to outrank these pages.

If you have a website with just a few pages and your competitors have large websites with forums, communities, blogs, etc. then you must improve your website if you want to compete. Search engines want to show the best sites on the result pages.

If you absolutely want to get high rankings for a term such as “mp3″, start with less competitive keywords and then proceed to the more competitive terms. Search engines must trust your website before they give you high rankings for very competitive keywords.

6. You must set the right goals

Search engine optimization is not about getting a high Google PageRank (the green bar in Google’s toolbar). It is about getting high listings for the right keywords so that the right people will come to your website. The goal of search engine optimization is to increase your sales.

You don’t have to be listed for any possible keyword even if they are related to your business. You have to be listed for keywords that will bring buyers to your site. It usually takes some time to find the best keywords for your website. Running PPC ads and tracking their conversions will help you to find the best keywords.

Last week, Google officially announced that their new web indexing system “Caffeine” is live on all Google pages. What does this mean for your website and do you have to change anything on your pages?

What is Google Caffeine?

Google Caffeine is the name for the new method that Google uses to index web pages. In contrast to Google’s old method, Caffeine can index new web pages faster:

“Caffeine provides 50 percent fresher results for web searches than our last index, and it’s the largest collection of web content we’ve offered. Whether it’s a news story, a blog or a forum post, you can now find links to relevant content much sooner after it is published than was possible ever before.”

Google changed they way in which they index the web because they want to show new pages more quickly in the search results.

What is the difference between the old system and Google Caffeine?

Google’s previous system updated the search index in batches.

“Our old index had several layers, some of which were refreshed at a faster rate than others; the main layer would update every couple of weeks. To refresh a layer of the old index, we would analyze the entire web, which meant there was a significant delay between when we found a page and made it available to you.”

With Google Caffeine, Google’s search index is updated continually:

“With Caffeine, we analyze the web in small portions and update our search index on a continuous basis, globally. As we find new pages, or new information on existing pages, we can add these straight to the index.”

That means that new pages will be displayed in Google’s search results sooner if they are relevant to the search query.

What do you have to change on your web pages?

Caffeine is not a ranking algorithm update. It does not change the way Google ranks web pages. Caffeine just means that new pages will be shown much quicker on Google’s result pages.

To get your own website on Google’s first result page, analyze the web pages that currently have top 10 rankings on Google. The pages that now have a top 10 ranking on Google have done everything right to please Google’s latest ranking algorithm.

Analyze the top ranked pages and check how and where they use their keywords. Also check which web pages link to the top ranked pages and how they link to the top ranked pages.

Doing this is a lot of work if you do it manually. For that reason, we developed the Top 10 Optimizer. The Top 10 Optimizer automatically analyzes the web pages that currently have high rankings for your keywords and it compares them to your own website.

You will also get detailed instructions on how to change the content of your web pages and the links to your site so that your site will be listed in Google’s top 10 results.

Even as Google and Apple are busy focusing on new mobile technologies, Yahoo, one of the oldest search engines and Internet giant, is trying hard to catch up with the changing technology by embedding social networking features into its existing popular services.

The company has tied up with popular social-networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, which will give Yahoo users an option to access their favourite Internet hangouts from their existing Yahoo e-mail accounts.

The new version of Yahoo Profile has been re-named Yahoo Pulse. After this tieup, now Yahoo users will receive updates from Facebook in their inbox, homepages and Yahoo Messenger. At the same time, they may also use Yahoo’s mail, content, messenger and other services like Flickr, to share messages with their friends on Facebook.

“This new tie-up is just about giving users what they want. Adding this feature will give Yahoo users a new way to find contents and at the same time keep them updated with their friends,” Cody Simms, senior director of social platform, Yahoo! Developer Network, told reporters via video conference.

However, he maintained that the company will still be focusing on its key strength area, which is its content. Simms added while Yahoo Mail still has a large user base, these social-networking sites will make people stick longer to the Yahoo webpage. It will also provide an opportunity to post Yahoo’s content on Facebook to attract the latter’s users as well as advertisers to their sites.

This will increase the web traffic and add more revenue to the company. “We recognise the future technologies. We have designed it in a way that it will be more mobile-friendly. And people can share and use Yahoo content and updates via mobile,” Simms added.

The Facebook feed is already available from Tuesday and the Twitter feed will be available in the coming summer, Yahoo said. However, in view of the content security issue, Yahoo said it has already overhauled its privacy control system. The new privacy control option allows its users to control who gets to see their updates or view the media they put on the web.

Apart from Facebook and Twitter, Yahoo has tied up with social game giant Zynga, which will see hugely popular titles, such as Farmville and Mafia Wars work with its network. The games will be available in late 2010. The company has recently tied up with Citizen Sports to bring other sports from Facebook and mobile devices through innovative applications.

In order to make the new Yahoo version more interesting and popular, Yahoo has signed a multi-million dollar deal with British soccer star David Beckham to tap the FIFA World Cup fever, a move which it says will add many soccer fans to its user base. “The World Cup is an opportunity to drive more people to search, use and talk using Yahoo content so that people can share this fever with their fans,” Simms said.

The source of Google success is page ranking system called after Larry Page, Google PageRank™. It is a mathematical algorithm calculating the importance of a website according to many onsite and offsite factors.

Basically, a website that has more inbound links will be higher in search engine results page (SERP) than the same website with less sites linking to it. It is an idea taken from the science world, where the importance of publication is measured through the number of quoting in periodics. Placing a link to some website Google treats as some kind of vote for this site and gives it some significance. But weight and quality of a website also counts. It is known that a government website is more important than a personal home webpage. It is like that because government have power and right to publicize official announcements, changes to law, new tax systems and so on. Our home page can only refer and link to the above information’s.

That’s why a link from a site with bigger credibility and higher meaning weights more than couple or even some tens of links from an unknown pages with little or no importance. Logically it appears to use this system to prioritize sites on internet.

Google sorts websites according to 10 scale system, where 0 is site with no importance and 10 is a well known, credible website with many visitors and high traffic (very few websites have PageRank™ of 10).

Google, by adding some new features to its algorithms gives higher importance to websites that are loner on the internet. In natural way these sites should possess some number of inbound links from other websites and some constant number of visitors. That’s why new websites get higher link weights than old sites to close the gap between them. New sites have no or very few inbound links and Google tries to make it equal to everyone by doing that. New sites can much easier get high listings in search engine results and high PageRank™ in the early phases of their existence. With time they usually lose their high positions and only then it is possible to determine what weight does the website really have.

It is not a good idea to buy a lot of links from a high PageRank™ websites to newly created web pages. Google assumes that such pages don’t have reach and developed content like sites that exist longer. It is common mistake while web optimization process. If link from a newly published website from a new web domain is added to numerous web directories and websites with high PageRank™ it is possible that such site will land in sandbox. Do not mistake sandbox with ban – a removal from indexes. Sandbox means lowered website PageRank™ and lower position in SERP, but is not equal to removal from indexing. Such site might still appear in SERP, but will lose its high positions for some or all keywords. The site will continuously be visited by Google web crawlers so don’t worry. After a while (from several weeks to several months) it will leave sandbox and be restored on full rights to search engine indexes.

However the trademark rights to PageRank™ system has Google Inc., the patent rights belong to Stanford University, where Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the founders of Google studied.

Google itself describes PageRank™ as:

“PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important.” Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages’ relative importance.”

For the last several months, a large team of Googlers has been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google’s web search. It’s the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions. The new infrastructure sits “under the hood” of Google’s search engine, which means that most users won’t notice a difference in search results.

Google caffeine was under development for the past few months. It is a major update to google infrastructure and includes no UI changes. Caffeine takes up nearly 100 million gigabytes of storage in one database and adds new information at a rate of hundreds of thousands of gigabytes per day. Most users won’t notice a difference in search results, but web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences. Google caffeine had been tested by many webmasters and it received positive feed backs. First it will be tested in one data center and later implemented in other data centers. The new google caffeine will be

If you’ve been directed here by me then it’s because your site, it seems, has a canonical problem. This means your page rank, trust rank, Google brownie points, whatever you want to call them, are currently and needlessly split between two sites. This means you probably aren’t ranking as high as you should be, aren’t getting the traffic, aren’t making the money… need I say more?

One site is http://example.com

The other site is http://www.example.com

But… they’re the same site! you cry, having peered at both on-line (I’m guessing).

Well, despite the fact that in many cases they do look the same and have the same content, no they’re not the same, actually. The exact reasons why they’re not are forbiddingly technical, but all we mortals need to know is Google sees them as different and affords them both a separate and distinct status in it’s search results. That gives us a problem and we have to find a way of addressing it.

You can tell if you’ve got the problem by opening http://yoursite.com in your browser. If http://www.yoursite.com is what you see in the address bar when you’ve opened it (note the www is present in it, but not in what you typed in), then I’d guess you’re ok, it probably means your site’s being properly forwarded. But if after you’ve opened it there’s a holding page from your hosting company, or there’s your old familiar site but in the address bar it still says http://yoursite.com. then it appears you do indeed have the canonical problem.

Still confused? Go type http://kruse.co.uk (that’s without the “www” bit) into your browser and open it. What you’ll see is my site and in the address bar you’ll see http://www.kruse.co.uk (which is with the “www” bit) because it gets forwarded. If something similar isn’t happening with your site, then you need to have it sorted.

If your site is hosted on a Unix server, then you can probably fix this (or, what maybe better if you’re new to all this, have your host fix it – this can be problematic if you get it wrong) in the .htaccess file. That’ll be in the root directory of your site, and it’ll probably be a hidden file. You can address the canonical problem, assuming this doesn’t interfere with anything else already in there, by putting something along the lines of
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.example\.com$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /(([^/]+/)*)index\.html\ HTTP/
RewriteRule index\.html$ http://www.example.com/%1 [R=301,L]

in it, substituting, of course, whatever your site is for example.com in the above, er, example.

This redirects an entire site to the home page of a different site;
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

It goes in the .htaccess file of the site you need to be redirecting

The answer to the title of this post is simple: “Because of the rewarding benefits associated with it”.

Often the basics are ignored and websites are designed and maintained not keeping an essential factor in mind. This all important factor is Search Engine Optimization (SEO). An online identity in the form of a website is useless if it fails to attract visitors to it. Visitors to a website come from a wide variety of different sources including web directories, clicking on a website link on an external website (backlinking), online advertisements, social media websites, forum discussions, etc. The biggest contributor to website traffic is without a doubt Search Engines. The dependency of an internet user (irrespective of his level of expertise) on popular search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. has increased manifold in recent years.

Search Engines are basically software programs designed to deliver output in the form of search results of URLs matching the input keyword as given by a user. These Search Engines generate result in an orderly fashion with the most popular (or optimized) website appearing on the top. Today in this day and age when internet has become a huge platform and a new turf for waging corporate battles it makes sense to walk with the times. If Search Engines have become an important source of website traffic it becomes all the more important to have an excellent Search Engine Optimization strategy in place which could ensure that your website remains a hot favorite for search engines while generating results for a user. The more visible your website is against the searched keyword, the more visits you are bound to get and all of this eventually justifying your online existence. However, it must be understood that Search Engine optimization is not a one-off affair but an on-going effort which is better left to experts.

Translation is the process of converting one language into another with respect to cultural, social values. It is said that “It takes less time to train an airman to become a fighter pilot than it takes to become a good translator”. For translation it is must that a translator should very well aware with both source and target language. This is why more translators are the native speakers of the required language in which translation is needed. But having knowledge of native language is not only a requirement for being a translator.

Translation is neither very difficult work to do but on the other hand it is not also very easier to do.

What is Translation?

Translation is the transmittal of written text from one language into another. Translation Refers to the written language, and is the action of interpretation of the meaning of a text, and subsequent production of an equivalent text that communicates the same message in another language. The text to be translated is called the source text, and the language it is to be translated into is called the target language.
Translation must take into account constraints that include context, the rules of grammar of the two languages, their writing conventions, and their idioms. A common misconception is that there exists a simple word-for-word correspondence between any two languages, and that translation is a straightforward mechanical process. A word-for-word translation does not take into account context, grammar, conventions, and idioms.

Some of the definitions of Translation are:

a written communication in a second language having the same meaning as the written communication in a first language

a uniform movement without rotation

transformation: the act of changing in form or shape or appearance; “a photograph is a translation of a scene onto a two-dimensional surface”

(mathematics) a transformation in which the origin of the coordinate system is moved to another position but the direction of each axis remains the same

(genetics) the process whereby genetic information coded in messenger RNA directs the formation of a specific protein at a ribosome in the cytoplasm

rewording something in less technical terminology

How to translate?

As we already discussed that translation needs that a translator should have fluent and accurate knowledge of both the source and target languages. Although before doing translation one should remember few technical aspects also like consistency, accuracy, grammar, vocabulary, glossary etc.

Before starting translation,

Go through the whole translatable document, i.e. Source

Check the content given, whether the content is complete or incomplete.

Understand the theme of the content

Check whether any terminology has been provided or not.

Check for glossary

Read the instructions provided.

If anything is unclear, or have any query, contact the job provider for accurate details.

Only after going through all the above mentioned points, start translating the document. While translating the document also consider these points:

Translate the document as per the meaning.

Please avoid word-for-word translation.

Maintain consistency.

Follow the glossary provided.

Do the translation as per instructions.

Use easy to understand language.

Follow grammar strictly.

Use proper words and

Avoid using bookish language.

Translation, when practiced by relatively bilingual individuals but especially when by persons with limited proficiency in one or both languages, involves a risk of spilling-over of idioms and usages from the source language into the target language.

The art of translation is as old as written literature. Since the Industrial Revolution, developments in technology, communications and business have changed translation greatly. In particular, the advent of the Internet has greatly expanded the market for translation and introduced a vast array of new tools and types of work.

Once the activity of a relatively small group of clerics, scholars, it is now a profession with accredited schools, professional associations, and accepted standards and pay scales. Translators, professional as well as amateur, have thus played an important role in the evolution of languages and cultures.

If you are looking for multilingual search engine optimization (SEO) and website marketing services, you have come to the right place. We can do it.

We have successfully optimized websites in English, French, German and Spanish. SEO follows the same rules in all languages, so multilingual optimization is simply a matter of applying the specific rules of each language to the search engines’ algorithms.

It comes as a surprise to many people that the world is not all English, not even on the Internet. For instance, Germany, Austria and much of Switzerland speak German first. French is the language of choice in France, much of Switzerland and Belgium, a quarter of Canada and much of Africa. And Spanish is the first language of Mexico, Central America, South America (except Brazil), much of the Caribbean and an increasingly affluent portion of Americans … and, of course, Spain.

Two other languages similar to French and Spanish are Portuguese and Italian. We can do these for you, too. Both have substantial markets; Italian is Europe’s fifth language and Portuguese is the main spoken in language in Brazil.

Our multilingual SEO marketing team

First we develop a list of search terms or keywords that people might use to find your website. This is not a simple matter of translating your English keywords. People might be using three terms in English, where only one exists in French. Or they might be searching for one main term in English, but searching for several synonyms in German.

What makes multilingual keyword research even trickier is that search sample sizes are so much smaller than in English. In the absence of more precise data, a page often has to be optimized for multiple variants of a word…

…which is what we do next. We optimize the pages of your website just as we would in English, using the same sound principles that will bring long-term success to your website.

The next step is typically link-building, which is also tougher on the non-English Internet. There are fewer websites to exchange links with, fewer directories and almost no article banks. Fortunately, much fewer links will yield results in French or German than would be required for equivalent search terms in English.

Contact Lingoway now on info@lingoway.com to get a Multilingual SEO for your business needs.
